Slingshot 2010 bar unequal line length

Postby matanshapira » Sat Oct 14, 2017 10:06 pm

Hi,

I have two 2010 SS comp bars. I checked the line length by attaching the 4 line endings to a fixed point following many online tutorials.
The rear(steering) lines had some slack, about 2cm(0.7 inch), in both bars.
How does it make sense?!

Knowing this it's pretty strange that I usually make the front lines shorter by 1 knot when attaching to the kite to set it up in a way that pulling the bar all the way doesn't oversheet it.

Does this bar really generate 4 equal line lengths? (I plan to attach it to a Boardriding Maui Cloud)

Thanks.

Both front lines about 2 cm shorter than steering lines sounds to me like the trim line ( the 5 - 6 mm thick grey line used to trim the power level at the clamcleat on the chicken loop ) is set 4 cm too short.

If there isn't enough extra line out at the trim handle on the end of the line to lengthen the trim line, then time for new trim lines maybe. However front lines a little short won't oversheet the kite at full power, it'll be the opposite, the kite will be 2 cm undersheeted at full power.

I rebuilt an old SS bar BRM style to use with clouds. Lines all the same. Mine are second and third gen kites and pretty trim sensitive. Getting their sweet spot at the right distance makes them awesome.
