Great to hear. After loads of considerations I decided to opt for the Salsh in favour of Pivot. I'm a heavyweight as well so good news that there's some serious low end. My thoughts were also that the second year should be better as they did some design tweaks after the feedback from the first year.
I usually hate it when companies start tweaking designs ! It always seems for the worse ! I was worried this years Slash wouldn't have as much low end but its got tons. I might of said this already but I don't see how the 12m pivot has more low end than the Slash ! This kite has got BEEF for sure ! I have a 2015 12m pivot That I should compare side to side. If I get a streak of wind Ill try to force myself to do the Pepsi Challenge on them. This kite kinda reminds me of my old rabbit kites but without any of the flaws like shooting through the window and not staying where you put it. Or sucking really bad in bigger sizes and small sizes like the Boss,Big Mama and the Bunny. The Smoke and The Punch were money but they still had major flaws. I kept those rabbit kites forever till I tried the pivot then they were sold fast. My wrists are toast ! The specialist I seen told me I had a 90yr olds wrist in a 47yr olds body. she said if she replaced it that I would just break it and really be fucked. Anyway my point is that I can fly this 12m with one hand ! I haven't been able to do that in a long time w any kite. Its super fast for a 12m. It also stays driving forward when doing strapless airs. Might of said all this before but my quiver this year is 14m pivot,12 slash,12m boxer for foil,10m slash,8m pivot. rode the 14m pivot for a 2.5hr session today and had a blast ! Kinda wish I got the green instead of the grey but other than that Im super stoked on my gear this year. my 138 Monarch comes in the mail Thursday but a TT but I don't see it getting any action till the LV classic unless I drive to San Felipe for a shotgun trip. I suck bad on a TT but Ill try to post my experiences jumping on the slash w a TT once I do. If my solo shot 3 ever gets here Ill take some video too. !
If they screw up the design..for sure...but...at least lately I was under the impression that Naish was quite good at gradually improving their kites from year to year. My impression...although never tried one...was that the Slash wasn't an instant hit as the Pivot was already from beginning, so there was room for improvement. By design tweaks I meant som minor design changes not redesigning the kite from scratch.

Hmmm...the way you describe the Slash 12 I wished I would have waited for that model. Just got an 11 m Pivot a year ago and are now adding a 6 and 8 Slash to that quiver. Maybe upgrade to Slash 12 next year then...
Yeah. It usually takes a couple years for a Surf Kite to gain respect and popularity and even then they’re hard to resell because only wave liters want them and when we want it we usually just get it new. I have last years 10m slash and I’ve had it for sale for over a month and not even an inquiry ! I also have a 6m bws noise that I’ve been trying to sell for 4yrs ! Haha.

Funny not that I know the exact trends on sales, but it seems like the same happened to the Pivot on some of my local beaches. it took about a year before people started getting it. I guess introducing new lines just takes some time?

In KiteFinder analytics the Naish Pivot was viewed this month top 10 (9 place) of all kites. The Slash is way back.
We had a Pivot/Slash youtube review 3 weeks ago, probably that lifted the numbers.
If we look at 2017 so far the views of Naish Pivot is way back in the 30th. Slash even further away.
Most popular Naish kite this year is the Park.

So yeah it takes time to introduce a new kite serie, because the Slash is a really good wave kite! The old Naish Park is still popular in the search engines.

That is super interesting data. Obviously it is one data point, but definitely an indicator. Park I would assume still gets hits because of the second market?
Btw this is a good place to post the review for the ones of us who has not seen it yet.
Personally I think the Pivot is the best kite in existence...so top 1 for me, but I have not tried all kites. :thumb:

I second this! I did get a chance to ride the new slash. I think it would be good if I got more used to it. For me i'm moving into full on foiling. Supposedly wave kites are excellent for foiling. For me I didn't find that the slash worked as well as the pivots do for foiling. They tend to sit back further in the window then what I like. Some say this is good for foiling so you don't outrun the kite, but i found it was kinda holding me back compared with the pivot.

drift is good, responsiveness is ok, relaunch was good. I think for surfing it would in fact be a great kite, foiling not so much for me.
The pivot works exceptionally well on the snow and foiling, so for me that's what i'm using currently.

What i really think is going to be a great addition is the quadtex I really really think this material is going to be much more durable in the long run we'll see.

I really have not ridden the slash yet so I guess its a bit premature to conclude anything especially since several of my buddies are raving about the slash.

I agree 100% on the quad-tex. The material looks new after a season. Granted I wasn't using the kites every day, but still..

Hi Clint, can you compare the Slash to any other brands wave kites besides Naish ?
I have been reading your posts on Naish for a while now, it's cool if your just a stoked consumer but one does wonder if you have anything to disclose. ??
Im just stoked ! read my other posts . I don't just have Naish gear. I do think their kites are the best though. I have a 2016 17.5 Solo thats good for what its worth. Im selling it though. My surfboards are all Tomo,Firewire and Ford ! My 6m kite is a BWS Noise but thats probably because no one will buy it off me ! haha My Hydrofoil is the Zeeko Spitfire with the Large Slingshot Dwarf Craft. I also want the large Naish surf foil but I can't afford it right now. My harnesses are both ride engine ! Dynbar is always my go to spreader bar. I use the best short leash. Don't really know why they still make long ones. I used to buy anything if I thought it would be better than what I've got but over the past 3yrs the Pivot and Slash have come through for me ! Ive grown tired of losing money on surfboards like the lib tech puddle jumper I posted about. Just put in clint2070 and see what comes up. I don't hide behind fake names and BS I My name really is Clint ! Im not a great kiter but I love the sport !

the wind here is only going to be good enough to foil tomorrow so I guess I'm going to try the 12m Slash instead of my 12m Boxer. Im using the Spitfire foil thats a canard. Im expecting since its a rear footed foil that the constant power through the turns will help me. I guess I'll find out. I love my boxer but the spitfire turns really fast ! Faster than the Boxer can keep up with. In 9mph it seems like sacrificing a fast turning kite for one that doesn't fall out of the sky is key. Hopefully the slash isn't too heavy for light wind foiling.

Try new gear whenever you can ! I see so many people that just get stuck on the same gear for ever. Your gear might be holding you back and you don't even know it. I try everything every chance I get ! What kites are you flying now ?
