My TomTom multi sport is on its way, could not resist the offer from RedRock sports, was £265 sealed in original packaging, full guarantee, 24000 100% review score on eBay.
From reading the manual looks like no max speed recorded and no knots as unit.
I have never used knots as a speed unit, I use km/h. For downloading I use the USB cable which doubles as a battery charger, the results automatically go to the tomtom's site where I can see my workout on the map and see different statistics; it also has export to different file formats. I use the .fit format and upload it to endomondo (where my friends share their workouts); endomondo also shows maps and workout stats including the max speed.
Not sure about tom tom, but the suunto ambit has 100s of user created "apps" you can upload to the watch to have it display whatever you want. I added a max speed in knots readout for example.
What does Doppler do? I've never had trouble with the ambit giving me inaccurate values (spikes). Or are there other inaccuracies i dont know about?
True, I don't look down during top speed runs, but I do like to check my upwind speed often while riding by looking over at the watch.gmb13 wrote: I reality you will not be looking down at your watch when trying for a speed run.
