Naish Sol 09

Postby Chris1973 » Wed Sep 17, 2008 5:28 pm

Has anyone tested this board yet?
How does it compare to last year Sol? Stiffer, softer . . .???
I 'd like to know how it rides in choppy and mushy conditions and how is the upwind performance on that board compared to the 555.
No pimps please as i'm not interested in any other board.

I have just felt the flex in a store and it felt a bit stiffer than the 08 sol. If you look at kiteforum.tv, there's an interview with a Naish-guy going through what's new for 09.

I'd like to have the 2008 ltd edition but it's quite impossible to find it at least here in Rome... :(

Does anyone know what the stance specifiations are on the 09 Sol?

I am looking for a board for a 5' , 95 lb woman to learn on. and haven't seen a lot of boards that have a narrow enough stance.

What’s the sol like for spray in the face and landing jumps? I have a 132 06 Underground board and am sick of the constant water spray in the face, also looking for a board that turns easily and I’m thinking the sol with the rounded tips should be the board I'm after.

I went from an UG FLX32 2006 to a Naish Sol 134 from 2008 and haven't been suffering from any spray. Carving and turning is just sweet. Going on flat water carving toe, heel, toe, heel, without turning the kite is like going down a powder slope with a snowboard. That's all good. What I don't like so much is that you need to go with quite a lot of speed to get a good pop release when doing unhooked jumps. At least if you compare it to the Thorn.

Can anyone coment how is the upwind performance on these boards.
I can only imagine that since they've got that round outline and there is no concave they're not going to be that good in upwind performance like for example the 555.

Actually the Sol and Thorn have identical outlines, only the tip area on the Sol is rounded. Upwind performance is very good on the Sol ..comparable to a 555 or similar sized twin tip. If you want even better upwind performance you can go for a board like the Spleene Session with a concave outline. It is way better going upwind than any normal twin tip, but much less versatile and with a bumpy ride. You can't have everything in one board. I own both a Sol 134 and a Spleene 41 ..a great combination.
The Sol is much more fun and comfortable to ride, but in light wind the Spleene is amazing.

Anyone knows if they're going to update their site any time soon so we can see the specs of the new boards there???
Also, any info when the new boards are going to be available in stores???
