New foil from Ozone

Hi Gunnar,

thanks for the review. But still some question about technical details and the 5 m²

1. Have you heard something about release date and price for the 5 m²?
2. Has construction details improved compared to Chrono v2? Especially drainage which was here similar insuffizient as on the V1. Bringing a brand new foilkite and fresh sewing in the safety in the water and relaunch it in high winds, does not necessarily mean this detail is constructed well. And also the bridle on the v2 was in parts one material for all 3 levels, which is not so great for durability and drag.
3. Can you change settings for all levels in the mixer?
4. What was your impression about power per m² compared to high performance foil kite: a little bit less or significant less?

Don't think I will have the chance to test the 5 m² before, so would have to order it blind and for this I need more info, otherwise I stay with my 5 m² Boost² and have to go on pumping

Thanks for the link, and Yes, don't know how to interpret Ozone windrange but maybe they mixed up knots with m/s but anyway it looks also strange, also for the 5 m² where 25 knts would be the wind where I would like to take it out of the bag and not the opposite and not for twintip:

Imho this could only be on a foil as the Chrono V2 looks like this (80kg average rider, TT):

2. Drainage is much better. The kite I have is a proto, by the time I got it it has ben flown quite some time, so it's not a fresh kite. What you are saying about the bridles and durability makes no sense.

The video footage of the drainage is after the kite was release onto the safety in was in the water for some time.

3. No.

4. I found it pretty much the same as my ChronoV2 9m.

Yes. I don't know what is going on there. I have had the 9m up in 25 knots with a twin tip and felt that I could hold it in much higher winds too.

as far as visible on the picture also had the impressions drainage could have become better at least middle break attachments with more space to trailing edge.

What I said about bridles is not so important, especially not for a mid aspect/performance kite, but I was wondering when I had compared Chrono V2 and Speed5 and maybe Link stays like V2:
While the bridle of the speed5 is designed with effort and used 4 different materials just for the break bridle for example and they tell you which material it is:

Ozone used just one material which they don't tell you what it is and which therefore had useless thickness and drag on the upper small br lines with low load and or was to weak and thin on the Back Main with highest load. But for sure, just one material is a bit easier and cheaper for construction.

Anyway heared that we get also one of the first serial 9 m² and will have a look myself.

It is also much safer not to mix materials and thickness on the bridle when you do not have to. It is a much safer option to use the bridle materials all the way though and choose to use the strongest line needed for that job. I know what system I would choose to trust when boosting in strong difficult conditions and it's not one with mixed lines.

The bridles on my Chrono V1’s are Edelrid lines.
The primary lines on my 18m for example are yellow and super thin and being supported by a wider diameter secondary bridle in grey.
A thicker bridle line supporting multiple thinner bridle lines sounds right to me.
