Been to Punta Chame once for just a few days. Nice spot with good winds in the morning and evening. It's a long sand spit.

If you are told not to kite in front of the town - don't do it. I ran out of wind there and had to fight of a pack of dirt dogs. Kinda scary. Also be sure to shuffle your feet while walking in the water. There are lots of Stingrays. I saw some one who was stabbed - not pretty.

Aside from these issues it's a nice spot.

It was nice when I was there. The wind turned on everyday at 2pm. There were lots of stingrays I never got hit by one thankfully. All so there were a lot of jellyfish and I did hit by one of them. It's a low key spot not a party place. The one restaurant/bar is Nitro City that is where I stayed. I enjoyed it but the hotel is old and not updated so not really worth the price they charge for it. Good kiting spot plus other things to do because of Nitro City. All so there are some all inclusive resorts with casinos and bars not to far from there closer to Costa Rica.

I was in Punta Chame for two months in Dec 2016 and Jan 2017. It's a good spot, but be careful where you stay if you don't have a car. Some of the spots below Nitro City and Machete Kites become difficult to kite depending on the tide cycles. There were days when there was NO beach for us to launch from in front of the guesthouse where I stayed. I think the best time to be there is Dec to March. You can kite in the Pacific side, or drive and get to the Caribbean side, but that's a haul.

There were a couple cute restaurants in the town, Casa Amarilla has great french pastry if it's still there. But not a lot of options, and there were NO places to get money except Casa Amarilla which would exchange money if you needed it.

If you're going to take lessons, I would recommend Machete Kites. It's a cool spot with a good vibe. The owner is super nice -- maybe you've seen his skateboarding bulldog videos?

I hope that's helpful. Let me know if you have any more specific questions!

When were you heading there?
I’ll be there on Dec 16 and 17 and I may have a ride to share from Panama City.
