We're still loving the Fish in the office and I think it'll be a bit better as a lightwind/beginner board as well. I think the Whip will hold up a bit better as the waves pick up a bit but for where you are I'd go with the Fish. That said, before we added the Fish to the lineup I'd have suggested the Whip for what you're describing so I don't think you'd be disappointed in that board either.
