Postby elguapo » Wed Jan 15, 2020 12:27 am

waves been been really incredible...and massive in cabarete.
and unfortunately those waves may have claimed yet another life over the weekend

havent seen it published anywhere... and i doubt it will be "porque afecta el turismo"

the ocean is a beautiful yet crazy muddafucka
be careful out there folks

I was there when a swimmer drowned some years ago. Not that I follow much DR news in general, but my impression was it wasn't covered up.

Which beach?

cabarete/bozo beach area.. but not certain on that

details are light/sketchy (hearing via whatsapp from a local instructor)
waves were pretty heavy (i believe friday)

i heard 'they' advised him not to go out...he did (99% of folks i know there would too..epic days are special)
he didnt make it back...

he was found 2 days later.
drowned apparently

i was hoping to find out more details, myself
not saying anything was covered up... only there is no interest in "publishing" for obvious reasons

Was he out alone? No one saw anything? No one missed him when he didn't come back?

Found this.

Not the same beach and probably not a kitesurfer, but obviously doesn´t change anything in terms of the sadness of the news.

I have no idea what happened to him, but the undertow can be quite rough in Cabarete.
