From Cabo Verde to Cornwall - Aluula lands in the UK
SUCCESSFUL START TO THE GKA TOUR
Carla Herrera gets first podium finish for 2020!
The first leg of the GKA World Tour took place in less-than-perfect conditions on the island of Sal in Cabo Verde, but Ocean Rodeo rider and current World Champion Carla Herrera Oria still managed to bag herself two podium spots, winning third place in the Women's Division of the Kite-Surf World Cup, beating her result from last year, and taking the winning spot in an inpromptu 'Supersession' competition, which saw the GKA judges and athletes try out a new heat format and scoring criteria while they waited for the swell. The Women's Semi Finals also saw Carla break out an ALUULA air-frame kite to make the most of the light winds, marking its first use in a GKA event!
Despite a good start, Reece Myerscough had to retire from proceedings after contracting a nasty bout of food poisoning, but recovered in time to get back on the water before the event came to a close.
Super proud of all our athletes as they kick start a very exciting year for Ocean Rodeo on the GKA World Tour!
