Low end Naish boxer 10m paired with a Moses Onda

Postby Jvwesemael » Mon May 18, 2020 12:54 pm

Hi All,

I am interested to know with what the lowend of a naish boxer 10m paired with a Moses Onda foil is. This is a foil with a freestyle/surf wing, so on the bigger side, comparable with a slingshot space skate.

Is 10 knots with dips to 8 realistic if you have sufficient foil skills?

Thanks

Jeroen.

Yes absolutely I have a 9M Boxer and a Moses 633 foil 8 knots is definitively possible with some skills on the 9M so on the 10M it should be even better. Those Boxers are kind of big for their size they feel like a bigger kites. Apparently they are bigger than disclosed if you measure the surface area.

8 knots is all going to depend on the conditions: surface current, waves, etc. I was out yesterday in 10kts and all LEI kites were down, including a 10m North Mono. For 8-12kts windrange I would recommend a foil kite instead.

It all depends on your skills but you will be fine, there is even some margin.
I live in a low wind place and I can ride the 633 with an 11m LEI kite in 7 knots (flat water, side shore, no shallows). I am 90kg.
When its howling 10kn, I usually change to 9m.

Hello!

I am quite novice in foiling, but I have been really happy with my new Boxer 10 m2 with my Gong surfoil sixe M. I have used my 10 m2 boxer only four times with my foil this spring and the lowest wind has been around +10 knots. It felt really good and no problems to have fun with enough power delivered from the kite even I'm far from expert in terms of foiling. I haven't tried to push the lower end yet - the water is still around 4 celsius warm and I prefer not to try my limits before it is warmer to screw up :) I also have 7 m2 boxer for more wind and it works nice as well.

I ride a Naish Boxer 10m 19/20 in winds of 9-14 knots. I cannot comment on the Moses but as I understand it, the 633 wing is around the 1200cm2 mark. I’m on an 1100cm2 wing and can get up on foil at 9 knots. I weigh 85kgs. I’ve ridden through wind lulls of around 8 knots. I’d struggle to water start at 8 knots but I’m sure a better rider wouldn’t have any issues.

I’ve recently shorted the steering lines resulting in a more reactive and quicker turning kite. Just got a 5m Boxer for 20+knots.

I've got the 12 but in my limited experience if the kite will stay in the air without having to sine it around you can get up on a foil. That being said it opens up the opportunity to get in some swim time !
