Naish 2020 ATB 55 control bar stopper ball issue

Postby Lowkeydude » Sun Oct 18, 2020 8:44 pm

Hello

I wanted to check if anyone else had issue with the ATB 2020 55 control bar from Naish.
It has happened already 4 times with 2 different bar that the knots that holds in position the front line with stopper ball passed through the hole in the stopper ball extending the front lines for couple of inches and acting like an elastic.

The last two times happened to me while I was looping the kite and despite I felt from the sky I did not injuries myself.

I checked online but I could not find any comment about it but it is strange to me that I’m the only one who has experienced this problem on two bars

The bars had around 20-30 sessions each

Tks
Franco

Yes. Naish changed those. They are now in metal and you should be able to get that metal piece from your dealer. I am assuming you'll get them for free.

Seems to be an issue on some Naish bars:

I just received an email from Naish after I wrote asking if other kiters reported issues and they told me that the stopper ball is now upgraded

At least there is a fix as I was wondering if it was a bad batch of stopper balls (maybe some plastic mold defect)

It's just a design flaw of the chickenloop that doesn't allow for a thicker flagout line that doesn't slip through the small hole in the stopper. Ozone did it right more than 10 years ago with a nice big 8mm hole through the chickenloop, allowing for a 3mm thick flagout line. Never heard of problems with their setup.

The designers should watch existing solutions more instead of figuring out the the wheel all over again, falling in the same traps as others before them. Going to a metal stopper has also been tried and failed miserable at Cabrinha, F-one and even naish themselves with the steel line organizer that didn't have a stopper. So I would really watch out for line wear inside the stopper!
