It might be good if you are starting a museum, otherwise just say NO.

Hey everyone,
I just started kiting, until ow I used the equipment of a friend.
I am a student and can't allow myself to buy "new from the nylons" equipment.
I got an offer:
Three kites:
Wipika Wip 2004 - 16m, Ocean Rodeo Bronco 2004 - 14m, Cabrinha Nitro 12m.
Plus 3 mountains board.
Harness, helmet, and bar included.
All of this at 760 USD (990 Australian dollars).
I am not sure if it worth it, I have no experience with kites, and I don't know if they won't unwind (break apart or something like that) because they are that old (2004).
Is it a bad deal?
Thanks!
Joke????

If you are considering buying worthless crap like this for this kind of money you need to take lessons with a serious instructor with decent gear and then demo these kites to see the difference. 5 year old kites are worth almost nothing and would still be very good but 17 years old kites made in the early days of the sport are not a good idea. Would you buy a 17 year old mobile phone?

No worry's Yotamss, Sillie questions don't exist and you are welcome here.
If you are completely new to the sport and you look at those new crazy prices I can imagine you think 760 USD is a decent price for a complete set.
But as others have already advised you, it is worth almost nothing, you can buy much better stuff and that seller should be arrested...

I would avoid all kite brands that are now extinct. Even if they were known for having good kites, it's not worth the hassle imo. Here's a short list of what's known
ASV Performance
Ben Wilson Surf (BWS)
Caution
Eric Hertsens (EH)
Flexifoil
Kiteloose
KiteSurf
Liquid Force
Mutiny
Rapace
Royal
Vari
Windwing
Wipika
Zian

Better to buy one newer kite than 3 very old ones.
Also thinking about safety...that old gear was not safe.
Let us know which conditions you plan to kite in and what weight you have so we can help you with a kite size to buy if you can only afford one.
