Old Kitegear
Just got some BEST Cabo 2013 kites, 9m, 11m. The family friend who I got it from recommended I replace the bar with updated safety features. What is compatible? Does it require a High Y split or Low Y split? Thanks.

It doesnt matter if high or low, just use your current bar with these BEST kites

I have the last year of these (2015) and I am use the Best bars with them and they are fine. I use the safety all the time when solo landing and any mishaps, and it works great. As long as there are no terribly worn parts, why replace it? I also use these bars with my other kites since they were newer then what I used to have.

Most of Low-V bars would work fine. A buddy is selling several 20” Slingshot Guardian 2018 bars at $200 a piece, all in great condition if you’d like

Most low-v 4 line bars will work, however you may have to swap the pigtails to match the connection.

Is the original bar single front line flag or mini 5th?
Is the chicken loop a round ball fitting into plastic jaws with a plastic release collar that completely detaches when pushed away?

That was actually a defective design that also had a manufacturer defect on the QR on the 2011 and 2012. If you are over 180lbs (80kg), do not use that CL release.
The only reliable release Best ever had for all rider weights was the North (Duotone) clone of the Iron Heart (4?)
Everything other than the QR was great on the bar.
