The sales volume must have dropped a lot. Half of kite foilers at my local spot switched to winging.

However, with kite price increase, people will simply buy Gong.

If the Best Kiteboarding endeavor taught us any lesson, then, some big names are going to go out of business. With crazy fire sale for the remaining inventory.
In fact, it's the opposite. Demand has increased a lot during lockdowns. With more people at home, they've had more spare time to... guess what?! Practice or learn your favorite sports and hobbies. It was reported in one of the last iksurfmag issues (Check out this article on IKSURFMAG https://www.iksurfmag.com/articles/issu ... -now-what/)

Put it together with coutries "printing" more money and giving free money as stimulus and is like throw gas on fire...

Barely anything used or new for sale in Brazil.
Many people here picked up kiting during lockdown!

Kite companies would probably save a load of money if they didn't insist on having a whole line up of new gear every year. Lets face it, its mostly minor tweaks and colour / graphic changes at this stage.

"But this year's model will be a game changer!"........said every kite company about almost every new model of kite they make.

It takes a bit of gullibility to support and justify modern advertising.

With companies that do this you can easily get 20% off their kite gear in mid season and 30% at the end of season if you still find suitable size. For me it’s not that easy as I like to ride unusual kite sizes like 8, 10 or 11m and these sizes usually goes first as they make least of these.
Trying to get Ultra 10m and it’s already out of stock

8m is the size that several companies use as the base model when designing. There are places where this is the most common kite. Maybe they’re not sitting on the shelf because people bought them.

I introduce you to Core, renewing their line up every couple of year and also the most expensive brand.

Some small to medium size snowboard brands are starting to buck this trend. Instead of bringing a new colour and selling old stock at discount every year they are keeping models for a few years. It's more sustainable and I think this is the way forward. As retailers we are very happy with this trend.

I can tell you for a fact that most snowboard models don't change year to year besides colours, and I bet its the same with many kiteboard and even kites. It's ridiculous to bring new models every year with so little progression.
