No posts on this topic? I am myself interested in the AK foils for kiting. They look really great.

@richieski, have you become wiser on AK foils since your post SEP2021?

Is it not the old Aztron brand that basically were taking cheap made Chinese foils from Alibaba, rebranding them and selling them with a mark up??? Honestly if you have to rebrand with an adjective like "durable" maybe you had quality issues you are trying to gloss over.
Hi Fatso,

DK, foil designer for AK Durable Supply Co here.

No rebranding going on, all the design work, prototyping and testing of the AK range is done here in Cape Town with a tight group of very active kiters, surfers and wingers.

For an overview of the current range you can check out this video:

Here is also a long form podcast style video that Clinton and I did recently going over foiling more in general:

You can read a little of the history of the brand on this page:

https://www.akdurablesupplyco.com/about/

You can even follow my own Instagram for look into the inner goings on of the lab and maybe a look into the future:

Cheers

DK

My apologies, I seem to have mixed you up with another brand, I've edited my comment. I used yo work at surfstore Africa in Muizenberg back in 2010/11

My bad.

I've ridden most AK sizes styles over the years + many other brands.
Tracer vs Trek, I prefer the tracer.
Tracer is faster, more nimble. Trek is more of the older liftier, slower style, perhaps easier for a newb.

My personal preference is the 850 Tracer + 1000 Plasma.
That covers EVERYTHING. Kite, wing, surf, efoil. (tracer good for kite & efoil, Plasma for wing, surf, light wind kite and also fun on efoil, more range than tracer)
If you're heavier up it to 1000 Tracer + 1300 Plasma.
If you're a slower learner and smaller, the 1000 tracer may be easier than the 850.
the 1000 plasma is surprisingly fun on a kite. If it's super light, and you're worried about getting up, put that on. it's still super quick, I clocked it 40+ km/h

have a look:

Thanks for your input DK. I think the AK range looks great. I might send you a message with a specific question.
