I definitely take the cold temperatures into account. I mostly ride the coldest days at the safest spot near me thats shallow, and you don't ride too far from land.
Me too. :thumb:

In regards to VERY cold:
One point, all that thickness can be counterintuitive. As soon as the thick stuff cuts blood curcilation it’s game over - you get cold and numb. Lobster and mittens help at the risk of dexterity (I’m one armed so very cautious of that part - hence a slider bar setup and medium to underpowered). One phenomenon I’ve experienced once is something called a “fishermans trick” which I really don’t want to explain or reccommend. (It’s about fooling your body).
Agree with many posts, strictly onshore - not far from shore

Took some notes. Fri 6 deg air,12 deg water. Fri was cloudy, sat sunny, big difference. Wore 3 mm booties,5-4-3 wetsuit,1mm shortsleeve underneath , neoprene hood, lobster claw gloves. Body and head comfortable, right index finger numb? toes a little cold.2 hr session on fri and 1.5 on sat. I think I'm good to go a little colder. Maybe take shorter sessions, put my suit on at home ,5 minutes to beach. And 9 mtr or smaller. Its a plan !
