Thanks Toby.
Surprised to see how loose your straps are. Thanks for that. I obviously tighten my footstraps way too much. Which looks like my main problem 🤔

Also as I make my straps loose my foot will probably go in a bit more. Might need to move straps to the heel side a bit. I guess.

Just try. Surely all depends on foot size as well.

Try it, but I don't think having them as loose as Toby is "normal".

It depends on the design of the straps, but even if I don't like them very tight I hate it when it feels like I have to really hold on to the board with my big toe. I guess that is somewhat of an "illusion" anyway, but I usually try to just avoid that feeling.

As Toby mentions in that video having them so tight you struggle to quickly get out of them is clearly not good in case you crash.

Thanks.i think my problem is I adjust the straps as if for shoes
Watching those 2 videos it looks like straps should be adjusted for foot to easily slide in all the way in. until strap hits the leg effectively. With the way I adjust them - when foot is that deep - strap is already too tight.
I guess Shinn HMT straps also designed to limit that foot rotation.
Almost like boots. Which may be good thing for professionals.
I mean the straps have 2 plastic inserts where velcro are (ankle and toes). These might limit the foot rotation compared to straps which do not have those?
IMHO I would prefer just one of this plastic inserts and something more flexible may be for the other one?
Note: I have just got a new board and new straps (one session so far). And I am basically a beginner...
So I am probably talking s***t :D

I will try to keep front toes velcro really loose. This should probably help rotation a lot.
I am convinced that this rotation is a good thing. Certainly for my knees.

Not sure if it matters if you got two or one. I have used both - never really thought about it much - might prefer two.

My straps will never hit my leg - even if they are set up very loosely. I think that will depend on the design of the straps and the anatomy of your foot as well.

Will be cool to hear when you test it how it feels.

Toby rides mostly on Cauipe, completely flat water. I don't think it would be possible to control the board very well with loose straps on bumpy water.

I have a maybe a nutty opinion with regards to foot straps,

But on a twin-tip, I like a flat pad with the foot strap inserts all right on the centerline.

I put the straps loose enough to easily slide my foot into, but tight enough that if I twist my foot to my preferred stance, I'm very well locked-in.

All these special-shaped footbeds with the super-wide strap that only works in one position.... Drive me totally nuts every time I have the chance to try them out.

My stance changes a bit in each direction; I like to have my front foot pointed more forward, and my back foot more perpendicular to the centerline of the board.
