Still buggying here, but nowhere near as much as I was a few years ago, in my pre-foiling days. But still sometimes, when conditions are not suitable for water use, or when Govt decides that going in the water is a big no-no that will spread covid19, buggy does get some use. I also like to use it for night riding / full moon sessions.

The links in previous posts for buggy fabricators are great, but I'm lucky to live in the land where old Peter Lynn buggies can be found for very cheap, so here's my latest addition, buggy #2. Wider wheels, short carbon rear axle, which means it can fit in the van without removing anything, without any hassle, in case I want to take it somewhere else... Which I haven't done yet, to be honest... I tend to always ride at the end of the street, but it's good to have the option. And good to have two buggies because it's better to share session with buddies!

Wing Buggy is a new option.
Kite Buggy riding with a 5m wing instead of a kite. Worked quite well. Goes great upwind and downwind, very easy to jibe and tack. My top speed was 20 mph on this day but it wasn't that windy (10-15). From the Jekyll Island Buggy Expo 2022 last May. I was actually quite surprised how well it worked. It would be a lower cost option than a blokart. While wings are expensive, there are plenty of used ones coming available and the one I was using was on of the Alibaba models. I've ridden kite buggy for 6 years and think this is easier and safer to learn. Also doesn't require as much space.

It works with a wing and it's easy, but still very suboptimal wing position due to sitting very low, and keeping the tips off the ground. Hence why you can't really smoke that mountainboarder on a wing in your video. He's got more rolling resistance than you, but he's tapping into more forward-facing power.

Is there much difference, space wise/tip dragging, between a handling a 6m as opposed to a 5m wing on a landboard?? Or is a 4m just more fun to mess around with on a gusty day on a landboard??

Are the alibaba wings decent, looked ok on the vid??

PS Liked the boom, presumably a mod using the paddle attachment - is that strong enough for normal use?

@bragnouff - the Mtn boarder is actual a pretty small thin woman - I likely outweigh her. One thing to keep in mind - what you lose in forward drive you gain in lift which partially mitigates the rolling resistance. I did manage to keep up the the buggy rider with a 6m peak (albeit a bigger guy than me). All that said - probably this isn't the setup for speed records but my old Flexi is not built for speed anyway. I now have a wing with a shorter span (Slingshot Dart) which I think will help with the angle issue.

@Herman - I was satisfied with my 4 and 5 m wings which I bought from YD Sport on Alibaba in 2019 and mid 2020. I thought the construction was quite good. I could say they stack up against the standard brands now performance wise. I have had more success wingfoiling with my Naish but it's bigger. Now, with so many used wings on the market there is not much an advantage in buying from overseas anymore though.

You are right - the handle was a paddle board handle. I used it in all types of winds.

^^ Thanks for the info. There is not much on eBay as far as wings are concerned in the UK but have not widened the search, perhaps I should. Looks like fun way for familiarisation, particularly if you are already landboarding and bugging.
