@kris10_cooper : could you tell me what is your Pulse quiver ? What sizes are you and which one do you prefer for unhooked freestyle ?

Thanks in advance :)
I have 8-10-12 Pulses. Would’ve gotten a 14 Pulse as well but decided to go with a 15 Reach because we get a lot of light wind days in Florida so I wanted a good light wind kite.

I prefer to unhook on my 10 and 12. Had a 9 last year and also liked unhooking on that. 8 is ok but a little faster than I prefer, but it’s not too bad. But 10 and 12 are money! :)

Thanks for your last posts !
My expected windrange for unhooked freestyle is about 12-20 kts and I hope I can cover this windrange with only two kites. 11/9 or perhaps 12/9 but it could have too much difference between 12 and 9 for unhooked freestyle for my weight (65 kg). So perhaps 12/10/9 or 12/10/8 could be better but it needs a third kite !
Your feedback about the 8m make sense for me : I already have a 8m kite for freestyle but I feel often too fast for unhooking expect for huge railey ;)
Can you success any handlepass with the 8m ?

No problem! Up until last year I had the 12/9 quiver. It is a bigger jump for someone your size (I’m pretty close). But, if you really only want to do 2 kites, I’d do that. I think an 11 will limit you. If your max is 20 knots for freestyle, you probably don’t need an 8. 9 would probably suffice. I switched to 8-10-12 to fill in the gap for those stronger days above 20 when 9 was too much.

Haha agreed on doing a big raley on the 8. I’ve only had 2 sessions on it so far and was lit out of my mind (insert big raley haha) so I have not attempted a handle pass on it yet. What is your current quiver?

My current quiver is Naish Dash 11/9/8, and my wind ranges for unhooking easily are :
11m : 13-16 kts
9m : 15-18 kts
8m : 17-20 kts

But I find the 8m is a bit too fast, and need too much speed before unhooking so it is not easy for me (I not really like unhook with the 8m  )

I am only riding with straps, and after 20 kts I prefer big jumps and loops (I have just bought an Orbit :D )

Do you think that the low end of the 11m is not sufficient ? And did you have no too much gap between 12 and 9 pulse ?
I suppose that I could unhook with the 12m until 15 kts, but 15 kts is it enough for the 9m ?

Oh ok. If you’re riding footstraps that’s a little different. I ride boots and a rockered board so I need a little more. I did 12m up to 17-18 (usually pretty trimmed) and then switched to my 9m. If you can make your 11 work for freestyle in 13 knots that’s pretty good. I definitely can’t haha. 12-9 is a bigger gap, but at the main spot I was riding I usually needed one or the other (definitely 12m weather or definitely 9m weather). Once I started having more conditions that had that gray area, I switched to 8-10-12.

I mean, the Pulse loops well ;) just aggressive. You could do an 8 Pulse and have it for both freestyle (if you feel inclined) or loops. ;) but that’s sick you got an Orbit. That thing is a looping machine!

Thanks again !

But I am still hesitated ahah …between a two kites quiver (12/9 for a best low end or 11/9 for a better windrange covering in freestyle), and a three kites quiver (12/10/9 to keep the small kite more predicable or 12/10/8 to have a best high end for unhook freestyle). And I prefer to continue riding with straps, I had already some injuries on my knees …

It is great that you can unhook with the 8 ! Let me know when you try handlepass with this kite :)
