Give DIY a go, it’s not hard and lots of fun for no wind days.

Why outside line trim? Keep it simple and just use a trim cleat if you don't like the just rope adjuster on the KISS bar. As for the line bracket with flag line safety, I use a small nylon block and drill holes small enough to fit the fly lines through so I can loop on the flag line. Very simple to do. Done it for a few bars. There are other threads discussing it. I think here the OP just wanted input for the release.

I’m looking at custom bar options and keen to get your thoughts on a few things. The KISS bar mentioned above has no trim adjustment and no flagging safety line. While I can see this logic and it makes the build a lot simpler I’m not prepared to go down this path.

Re the trim system what are your thoughts on trimming on outside/steering lines rather than centre line. I appreciate this means you’ve got to make two adjustments to keep lines even but it keeps all this clear from the centerline and the safety system. Thanks
I have this and like it a lot. I hate the floaty rope of central trims

What is the "floaty rope of central trims" Regis???

I love these, they are small light and easy in every way to make yourself, and 100 % customable regarding sheeting distance and so on, as it can be moved on the depower line.

One can use both 3 or 4 mm line in this cleat.

Do you mean the trim end you pull outside the cleat?
If, you can just shorten it to almost nothing, and no dangling :D

Yes indeed, the part which is not tensioned.
I use exactly this cleat !
I could change my 2 pulley arrangement into 1 pulley, but still, i dislike having this part moving in the wind and tangling in front of the bar

You could use velcro on the side of the cleat to make the line "stick" Regis.

Like many/most bars.

Yes i have on some kiteattitude bar. Thanks.
It works "better" but still, the velcro sticks "every where" . When having this standard trim i prefer with velcro like you suggest.

But during the ride, i prefer nothing at all on front lines :-) , so most of my custom bar have "dissymétric rear trim". I trim once or twice per session only, so loosing 2 additional second to set the second trim is not a real matter to me. Then my bar is cleaner and no "heavy part " on front lines.

Main problem i have (which is a real issue) is that it is difficukt to adapt floaters, and a bar without floter can lead to one rear line tangling behind the bar when turning the kite hard (specially if combined to slack line at that piloting phase

I think my Flysurfer bar has the same cleat. I like it but the dangling part with Velcro drives me nuts. I wish it had a smaller lighter pull tab that was not in the way.

Two of my trim ropes are worn anyway, so I'm thinkin of making new ones myself as the Flysurfer ones are quite expensive for what is essentially just a piece of rope with a loop. I have splicing tools already and some practice. So 5mm pure Dyneema, or is there something better out there? I'm thinking Liros Pro because I'm ordering some stuff from them anyway.

Hi,

I spliced one single thin rubber line though Dyneema for about 40 cm all the way to the end. Made a knot on rubber around the Dyneema centre lines. Seems to work. Its thin line, does not impact cleat lock.

This minimises dangling for me.

Of course, the best bar for having a tidy setup is North click bar.

for some of my customers who also hate the floppy trim tail thrashing around when loads of depower is pulled on I have fitted a bungee cord inside the dyneema trim line to remove much of the floppy tail, works well.
