looking for old stunt kites in your garage?!

Postby kite fan » Tue Nov 22, 2022 11:59 am

Hi guys, I always flew all sorts of kites since I was a kid. Started with single line kites then 2 and 4 lines stunt kites before discovering power kites. Started buggying and kitesurfing in 1996 and snowkiting later on. Now that I have kids I have a lot less time to go kitesurfing as I live inlands in France... I went back in my past as I now mostly fly single line kites that I build with my wife but I also got back a lot into 2 line stunt kites. I decided to start a collection of stunt kites that I was dreaming of when I was a kid but could not offer. Now, I can offer myself those kites but they are not available anymore :D I look every day on second hand websites but good kites for sale do not appear that often.
This is why I decided to post on this forum. Maybe some of you started, as me, with dual line stunt kites that are now stored in a garage or cupboard. If you no longer plan to use them, I would be happy to buy some to complete my collection. My goal is to find the well known brands from years 1990-2000 such as Prism, Blackbird, Benson, Flexifoil (Matrix), Big Easy Kites...
Not really interested in NSR though as I already have some.
Can study every proposal on some still flyable kites
Thanks.

I've still got my Mullin Kites Area 51, but I'm not gonna part with that one :P

I still have my original Team Hawaiian kite. Got it after reading an article in Sports Illustrated about it describing it as boxing with the wind. 6 Foot wing span, carbon fiber arrow shafts, trailing edge vibrates so it sounds like it has a motor, and pulls like a truck.

6’ would be a 3/4 Hawaiian, I believe. My 3/4 Spinoff certainly is.

I think I’m too emotionally attached to my old kites to sell any, but I’ll take a look.

Just sold one as well as a vented NSR Radical. I'm not a big fan of the hawaian style kites. The vented NSR was in really good conditions but needs really strong winds to shine up and I rarely have those winds where i live. I really prefer the standard or UL kites precise and freestyle. Got a MEFM this summer and this kite is so cool for a chill out session! :D

I guess the only one that fits your criteria is my 3/4 spinoff (yellow and pink outlined in blue) - you can have it if you want.

I also have an unidentified Cerf Volant (obscure Canadian company, green pink yellow), Banshee Scimitar (yellowish arc with blue tips, funky tensegrity leading edge and tons of battens), and a random knockoff of some early 90s framed dual line (white red black). There’s also a butterfly fighter kite (single line, cloth, with a tail to stabilize it for beginners like me). I’ve attached photos, in case anyone else wants any of those.

I’m keeping my NSR, 6’ flexifoil stacker, and High Flyers (post Tim Benson?) Phantom. I’m glad your post made me look through them, because I had been under the impression that the flexi was ripped, and apparently that’s not true.
