Any thoughts on how to install this on a carbon race board (TFB)? Drill in and seal screws with marine epoxy of some sort? TIA

I would probably use footstrap/snowboard inserts. You could route cavities in the deck and epoxy them in, or mount them on the surface and cover with some patches of glass or carbon, if concerned about potential leaking into board core. Maybe use an extra one to attach a leash to the fancy gps box too, just in case?

If you can mount it near a leashable point I would consider using go-pro mount glue pads. Maybe somebody has experience with this on a board. Personally I only have a little experience with use on a helmet rather than board. I believe they are reasonably easy to remove with a bit of heat if you were to trial. They would also provide a small amount of vibration damping. No good if you need the ability to remove frequently unless you can buy or make a base plate.

Would it be crazy to just JB weld it to the deck?

I would do it the same way BWD suggested. Drill big holes, fill with epoxy, screw into the solid epoxy.

We used this directly on the board and device to have it removable while remaining attached during the hardest crashes (but still wise to have a small leash, just in case):

Nope, seems fine if you are cool with it. Better make sure the epoxy you use gets along well with the mount and with your board’s finish though, or it might just give up and slide into the depths some day.

Amazing, thank you. Did the board surface require prep? My deck has kind of a textured finish for grip. Any chance you have a pic of what you're describing? Also how the leash attaches to the unit. Thanks!

The tape needs a flat surface, you can sand down the peelply grip or add a layer of epoxy to prepare the surface.
Think I just tied a piece of line around the base of the sailmon, but could be that it was without. Was a borrowed one so don't have it around anymore.
