Hi all, first post here, great reading lately...
I want to build a light paipo, something like Greg's BRM in a shorter version. I want the board to be thin and light for travelling. I already have a strapped volume board, a Slingshot Dwarfcraft 54'.
I 've been exchanging some posts on the French forum, but may be I can also get some help here. I do have experience with paulownia and HWS surf, and I want to keep the wood look.
I have the two paulownia skins ready, as my first idea was to only put ine carbon layer in the middle, but I was advised to make a proper sandwich with a core, and then another skin and FV, for minimal flex and good compression resistance. Insted of any kind of foam, I wanted to test paulownia as a core, as it is used on skis construction and regular kiteboards.
I did two tests, one with carbon, and another with regular glass>
3oz/90g FG
1mm wood (look)
7oz/200gr carbone or FG
paulownia 5mm
7oz/200gr carbon or FG
paulownia 5mm
3oz/90g FG
Escalating the weight, in case I can match everything, should be around 2.5/2.8kg, which sounds good. I will later add some pics of the tests, + a couple of my hws boards.
Any comments or previous experience would be great.
Thanks!
Greg
